Oberá is a city in Misiones Province, Argentina. It is the capital of Oberá Deparment, also known as the "Capital del Monte" (Capital of the Forest), and is located 96 km east of Posadas.
Is the second city in size and importance of the province and capital of "Región de las Sierras Centrales" (Central Mountain Region), when being surrounded by a frame by exuberante vegetation, streams, cascades and mountainous areas that give a colorful landscape him. It is a modern city, that counts on a variety of services, standing out the transport and the commerce, counting on a good hotel profession and services of gastronomy. It represents the educative and cultural pole of the "Center Zone", since it counts on faculties and tertiary races. From the economic perspective, it demonstrates to a great might agricultural-industrialist. Everything in him trasluce the native and European inheritance, since it was the place chosen by numerous colonies of immigrants for his establishment.
More than 15 colectivities they coexist maintaining the culture and tradition of its predecessors and, like example of brotherhood, in the first fortnight of September of every year they are united in a great celebration that extends all the borders: Immigrant's Festival. There is also denominated the City of the Churches, since it lodges in his sine more than 30 temples for 60,000 inhabitants. Is located on National Route 14, to 95 km of the airport of Posadas and to 1150 km to the north of Buenos Aires (the access is direct with several daily frequencies of omnibus).
Tourist Places
In the city, in addition to the churches, can be visited:
Jardín de los Pájaros: (Birds's Garden) stroll with great diversity of birds, more than 200 species.
Monteaventura: Recreational estate with ecological footpaths and games
Berrondo Waterfall: A place with forest and services of camping
Reserva del Chachí: Reserve that is in the environs of the city where can apresiar chachís (giant ferns)
Centro Zootoxicológico: Guided visits, great diversity of reptiles and one of the greater serpentaries of the country.
Oberá Park: Summer recration center, to spend the day surrounded of nature.
Parque de las Naciones: (Park of the Nations) In order to appreciate the typical houses of the 14 colectivities, in September is made Immigrant's Festival.
Historic and Natural Sciences Museum: Within the Park of the Nations.
Casa de la Cultura: (Culture Place) Permanent exhibitions of diverse artists.
Others: Land-tourism (small farms with rural activities), plantations and dryers of Yerba Maté and tea (to know the process elaboration of main products of Misiones Province.
